I have purchased this item previously, and this one prior to using the previous purchase. Both items were purchased to illuminate under my desk and underneath my upper desk "reception cowl". Not a very bright lighting solution. I also tried using a 12V 2.1A power brick instead of the 5V USB power cable provided and the brightness did not improve.

I purchased this kit as a low voltage solution to add illumination under my desk. I had intended to connect it to a powered USB hub with individual switchable USB sockets and USB extension cables that I had purchased ... however this only resulted in a low voltage problem. I purchased a 2A 30W power brick instead for direct power feed at 5V ... low brightness, may try a 12V supply instead.
